MiniDock

Bluelounge had perfected the industrial design for their MiniDock, but was faced with the challenge of making the device manufacturable while maintaining the design aesthetic.

The internal layout required for product functionality and the overall part shape presented a unique challenge. Pump worked with Bluelounge and their manufacturing partner to create a design that hid fasteners and any undesirable tooling marks, all while keeping assembly and tooling costs low. Since Bluelounge values time to market, we worked efficiently from concept to tooling release to expedite the schedule.

When Apple introduced the Lightening connector, Pump worked quickly to redesign the assembly to accommodate the new connector. This included meeting Apple’s requirement of allowing the connector to rotate, which helps protect the connecter while inside the phone. We took great care to retain the original design and allow for the retrofit.
