Go! Bolt
When AccuQuilt identified the need for a lower cost, entry level motorized fabric cutter to add to their product line, they approached Pump Studios to address the challenge.
Meet the AccuQuilt GO! Bolt™ Electric Fabric Cutter.
Prioritizing price point, and footprint, Pump collaborated with the industrial design team to develop a product that maintains the look and feel of a GO!® cutter, while replacing the integrated folding platforms with an accessory “die catcher”. The single part “die catcher” includes built-in handles and provides a home for the Bolt power supply and cords during both storage and use.
The GO! Bolt cutter itself is significantly lighter than the larger GO! Big®, while maintaining much of the same functionality. Integrated carry handles, a distinct appearance, and an optimized gear train allowed Pump to reduce the cost significantly while still supporting all but the largest GO! dies, and cuts multiple layers of most fabric. Overmolded plastic gears where torque requirements allowed, saved cost, kept weight down and helped minimize noise.
While cost and weight were optimized, the cutter was designed with reliability and safety in mind. Careful attention was paid to building geometry that prevents snagging of dies and fabric during cutting, while the simple user interface was adjusted to promote safety.
The GO! Bolt fabric cutter is the latest piece of an 18 year partnership with AccuQuilt. Pump is proud to have played a role in the development of all of AccuQuilt’s cutters, and excited to see how the GO! Bolt expands their portfolio.
